CHAPTER TWELVE

They got back to Amarina’s place.

“I’m getting used to being here,” Wylie said.

“You are? Is that a good thing?”

“Sure. Why not?”

“I don’t know. I don’t want you to think about moving in or anything.”

Wylie laughed.

“Baby, we’ve gone on a couple of dates. I’m totally into you, but it’s way too soon to be thinking like that.”

“Good. Just so we’re both clear.”

“We are.”

Wylie was thinking how refreshing it was to have someone on the same page she was. She liked dating, okay, sleeping with women, but she wasn’t much into commitment. Amarina was different for sure. Wylie was perfectly comfortable making a commitment to her. Odd, but true. She still wasn’t ready to move in, though, and she was glad Amarina felt the same way.

“I’ll grab us each a beer,” Amarina said and Wylie made herself at home on the couch. She slipped off her sandals and put her feet on the coffee table. It might have been considered rude, but she’d seen Amarina do it, so figured it must be okay.

Amarina returned with the beer. She handed one to Wylie then knelt next to her.

“You don’t look comfortable,” Wylie said.

“I’m fine. I want you, though. I figure this way I can assault you easily.”

“Assault me, huh?” Wylie laughed.

“Yep.” Amarina was laughing, too. She made her way close to Wylie and kissed her neck.

“You’re going to spill your beer,” Wylie said.

“No, I won’t.” She kissed her neck again and lightly sucked on it.

Wylie grew dizzy at the sensation. Amarina’s shyness seemed to be on holiday and Wylie liked it. A lot.

Amarina sat down and drank some beer.

“You sure know how to get me going,” Wylie said.

“And then I stopped. Does that make me a tease?”

“No. Because I know what’s coming later.”

“So do I.” Amarina smiled.

“But for future reference, anytime you want to suck on my neck, you feel free to do so.”

“Good to know.”

Wylie sat sipping her beer. She had something she wanted to say but wasn’t sure how to go about it. Finally, she set her beer down and turned to face Amarina.

“There’s something I want to tell you, Amarina.”

“Uh-oh. This can’t be good.”

“Oh no. It’s good. At least I think it’s good.”

“If it’s good, why am I scared?”

“I just want you to know…I mean, I think it’s important for me to tell you…”

“What? You have an STD or something? What is it? Spit it out.”

“No, no, no. Nothing like that. It’s just that I really like you.”

“I like you, too,” Amarina said. “I thought we’d established that already.”

“We have. I mean…what I’m trying to say is it’s more than just sex for me. And I want you to know that.”

“Really?”

“Really. And I think it’s important that you know that.”

“I feel the same way, so it’s a relief to hear that.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Good.” Wylie let out her breath and sat back against the couch. She reached for her beer. “I’m glad we had that talk. I really want you to know you’re different for me.”

“Well, I’ve never been the type to sleep around, so I can’t say you’re different for me like that.
